Atelier PAVA is an architectural practice based in Bonfim, Porto. Its focus is on a pragmatic and responsible approach, where design is a means to solve problems rather than an end in itself. First and foremost, a building needs to withstand the elements, be thermally and energetically efficient, programmatically intelligent, functional, economical, and budget-conscious. Design lies in the process of articulating all these elements. Its identity and image arise from this process and will reveal themselves only at the very end; this image is never a starting point.
